Porirua Whānau Centre is the 'hub' for the community, enhancing the health, social, education and economic wellbeing of our children and families.
We are a Kaupapa Māori organisation providing culturally appropriate and integrated services for whānau, including:
- Family violence prevention and support
- Budgeting
- Social housing
- Parenting programmes
- Youth and holiday programmes
- Early Childhood Education
- Matua programme
- Social work, advocacy and counselling

We provide support for Tane and Wahine referrals relating to violence, including counselling for individuals, couples and family members. We are also the lead agency for the Porirua Family Violence Prevention Network, an integrated and multi-faceted organisation dedicated to stamping out family violence and assisting those who suffer as a result of it.

The Porirua Whānau Centre is one of two registered Community Housing Providers for the Wellington region. We currently own and manage properties to ensure whānau have an opportunity to gain access to safe, warm and affordable housing.

We provide in-school resilience programmes for tamariki aged 5-9 years; addressing issues involving bullying, truancy, obesity and anti-social behaviours. We run a Mana Motuhake programme for rangatahi aged 16-25 years to help them to achieve further education and employment. We also run Holiday Programmes.

The main purpose is to ensure our Matua stay mobile and connected in their community, by implementing a programme that promotes health and wellness and improves their quality of life physically, mentally, and socially.
