Description

Waitapu Tohunga Matakite Consultant (Vendor Number VBI950) is an ACC-registered Rongoā Māori practitioner based in Hawkes Bay.

My ACC Rongoā Māori practice includes but is not limited to:

  • Tohunga (Māori Spiritual Practitioner)
  • Wairua whakawhitiwhiti kōrero (Spiritual Counselling, including Parapsychology).

My practice is founded on the knowledge and wisdom of traditional Māori healing and is evolving into a diverse inclusive holistic way of being.

Staff

Taherama Tamatea: ACC Registered Rongoā Māori Practitioner

My practice was initially informed by my mother Olive Te Tahuri Hollis, my grandfather Tipene Tamatea (my mother's father); my granduncle Kapi Adams; my involvement with Church affiliations, training and positions of responsibility within the Church; my many years practice as a Registered Nurse (retired in 2004); many Kuia, Koroua (elders); mentors Māori and Tauiwi (people from other cultures) along with continuing personal experiences, learning and teaching experiences overseas with other indigenous cultures, qualifications in both worlds, personal and professional development.

For the last 8 years, I have been working internationally, full-time, now part-time, teaching Spirituality as a Tōhunga/Matakite/Priestess, teaching sustainability development and living and also working as a Business Consultant.

I have weaved Te Taha Wairua and Mauri healing into everything I have done throughout my life. However, I wanted to be able to use Wairākau that could complement my practice. In 2005, I completed a Homeo-botanical Certificate (Wairākau infused medicines), 2008, and 2009, I completed Rongoā Māori courses.

I believe that one person's healing experience helps to heal and strengthen their "whole whakapapa (genealogy)."

Services Provided

ACC Rongoā Māori

ACC Rongoā Māori ACC recognise rongoā Māori as a kaupapa Māori service. It's culturally grounded care that weaves tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori through all aspects of the service. We respect that these aspects embrace ngā taonga tuku iho (intergenerational gifts and knowledge handed down from tupuna Māori). We see rongoā Māori in the wider context of traditional Māori healing methodologies. ACC don't consider healing techniques from non-Māori cultural traditions, such as reiki or hyperbaric oxygen treatment, part of rongoā Māori. Even if they're provided by rongoā Māori practitioners.
