Description

All people, every cancer. If you, or someone you know, has been diagnosed with cancer, the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society is here to help.

We offer a range of practical assistance and supportive care to help you and those you care about understand cancer, get through treatment and find support.

You don’t need a referral from a healthcare professional to access our services. Simply get in touch by phone or email and one of our supportive care nurses will contact you to talk about the support we can provide, including:

  • Support for you and your whānau
  • Information about cancer and treatment
  • Assessment and support to manage the side effects of treatment
  • Links to other Cancer Society services and support groups
  • Referrals to other healthcare professionals and community services

Staff

Cancer Society supportive care nurses are experienced nurses with specialised knowledge and skills in supporting people with cancer. 

If you, or someone you know, has been diagnosed with cancer, is currently receiving treatment or is living with cancer, our friendly nurses are able to offer support and information.

Cancer Information Helpline 

Any question, any cancer. Our free 0800 CANCER (226 237) helpline has been created especially for patients, their whānau and carers. Your call will be answered by an experienced cancer nurse and is confidential. If you wish, you can also remain anonymous.

This free service is available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, excluding public holidays.
