Usha was born in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, raised in Taumarunui, the heart of the King Country, Aotearoa New Zealand and spent the majority of her life in Tāmaki Makaurau, eventually moving back to Taumarunui, where she now resides.

From a young age Usha spent much of her time with her Koro (maternal grandfather) immersed in the natural worlds of the whenua & ngahere (land & native bush). When not in the ngahere you could find them on a hikoi, checking the farm stock surrounding their whānau homestead located at the end of Pungapunga Valley road, an isolated and beautifully kept whenua nestled between two ngahere blocks. To the south of the property lays the maunga Tongariro and to the east, (just over the hill),  Taupō-nui-a-tia.

Much time was spent listening, enquiring and absorbing the ways of her Māori culture; Tikanga, Kaupapa & Whanaungatanga, through her Koro’s intuitive knowledge and stories. This was the foundation which set her on a path towards a journey of self discovery and ultimately towards a path as a Rongoā Practitioner.

Services Provided

ACC Rongoā Māori

ACC Rongoā Māori ACC recognise rongoā Māori as a kaupapa Māori service. It's culturally grounded care that weaves tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori, te reo Māori, and te ao Māori through all aspects of the service. We respect that these aspects embrace ngā taonga tuku iho (intergenerational gifts and knowledge handed down from tupuna Māori). We see rongoā Māori in the wider context of traditional Māori healing methodologies. ACC don't consider healing techniques from non-Māori cultural traditions, such as reiki or hyperbaric oxygen treatment, part of rongoā Māori. Even if they're provided by rongoā Māori practitioners.
