Hospice Mid-Northland

Description

Hospice Mid Northland - Whare Manaaki Te Tai Tokerau is a compassionate community service dedicated to providing exceptional palliative care to those with life-limiting illnesses as well as their family and whānau. Hospice supports patients requiring palliative care; some people will have cancer and others may have conditions like heart or kidney failure. Palliative care can be given alongside treatment like palliative chemotherapy or dialysis and can help people to have a better quality of life.

Serving a broad geographical area from Hūkerenui in the South to Tāupo Bay in the North, and coast to coast, we are committed to delivering holistic, patient-centred care that is entirely free of charge.

The majority of care provided by Hospice Mid Northland occurs in the person's home or Aged Care Facility. If required we can also support short periods of admission in the Hospice Inpatient Unit, though our wider team at North Haven Hospice in Whangārei.

At the heart of Hospice Mid Northland is our mission to enhance the quality of life of people with a life limiting illness by delivering comprehensive, person centred, dignified care that considers the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each individual. We take pride in our approach to care, recognising the unique needs of each person and tailoring our services accordingly.

Our multidisciplinary team consists of skilled nurses, medical support, a GP with a special interest, Nurse Practitioner (NP), Te Tumu Manaaki (cultural advisor), a social worker and many volunteers. We work collaboratively with the patient's primary care team, and other services within the health system and community.

We are honoured to be a trusted partner in care, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.  At Hospice Mid Northland, we are here to provide comfort, support, and peace to those in need, ensuring that dignity and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.
