Description

Stop provides whānau-centred support and therapy to Adults, Adolescents and Children who have engaged in, or are demonstrating, concerning or harmful sexual behaviour. Stop offers prevention education training, consultation and support to equip adults to respond effectively to sexualised behaviour. 

Our team works across Te Waipounamu, the South Island and we have offices in Whakatū (Nelson), Wairau (Blenheim), Ōtautahi (Christchurch), Te Tihi o Maru (Timaru), Ōtepoti (Dunedin), Murihiku (Invercargill) and Te Tai Poutini (West Coast).

Children's Service

The Children's Service is aimed at helping children and their parents/caregivers and schools to gain the understanding, knowledge and relevant skills to prevent further concerning sexualised behaviour from occurring. The service is designed to provide effective intervention suitable for this age group, identify the factors which have led to the concerning sexualised behaviour occurring and provide an intervention to address these factors.

How to Access the Children's Service:

Referrals are accepted from Oranga Tamariki, schools, health and community professionals, counsellors and Police.


Adolescent Service

The Stop Adolescent Service provides assessment and intervention for adolescents who have sexually harmed or have concerning sexual behaviours. Our programmes are structured to support adolescents aged between 13 and 18 years old who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour and our support extends to their respective families.  

How to Access the Adolescent Service:

Referrals are accepted from Oranga Tamariki, schools, health and community professionals, counsellors and Police.


Adult Service

We provide support and therapeutic programmes for adults who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour or have harmful sexual thoughts about children/adolescents.

Our programmes are strengths-based and focus on providing emotional skills, self-management, healthy sexuality (sexual regulation), relationship skills and knowledge and tools for our clients to build better lives.

How to access the Adult Service:

Referrals are accepted from government agencies including the Department of Corrections (Ara Poutama), Oranga Tamariki, health and community professionals, counsellors and the Police.

Prevention Education and Training

Stop provides workshops and training across Te Waipounamu to support adults to respond effectively to sexualised behaviour. Our online and face-to-face workshops provide education, language and communication skills, tools and resources to respond effectively to concerning sexualised behaviour.

Our team have extensive experience as teachers and clinicians and are passionate about equipping the community to make a difference in minimising and preventing harm.
