Claire is originally from Chester in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2008 and spent her first years as a junior doctor working in the South West of the UK before moving to New Zealand in 2010.
Claire spent most of her career working as a medical registrar in Invercargill and Dunedin, taking some time off to have children. She changed to general practice in 2021 to pursue a more family orientated career. Claire lives with her husband and three children on a lifestyle block along with their alpaca and chickens. She also enjoys cooking, gardening and crafts when she’s not busy with work and her children.

A "Vocationally Registered" doctor has qualifications and experience that allow them to be registered as a specialist in a particular scope of practice e.g. General Practice, Urgent Care. These doctors can work independently in New Zealand.
