Dr Nick Mantell is a well recognised ophthalmic surgeon specialising in Cataract surgery and LASIK/Laser vision correction. He has performed thousands of cataract operations, making him one of the most active cataract surgeons in New Zealand. As one of the most highly trained retinal surgeons in the country, he has also successfully performed thousands of vitreoretinal operations.


1. Cataract surgery:

• involves the removal of a lens that has become progressively more opaque which is known as a cataract. Cataract techniques have become more technically advanced therefore we are able to offer better outcomes in surgery and the opportunity to detect cataract development at a much earlier stage. 
• For many patients who need to wear glasses, it also offers the opportunity to become more independent of the need to wear spectacles.

2. LASIK / Laser vision correction:

• the iLASIK technology is one of the most precise medical procedures performed today. The iLASIK procedure addresses the uniqueness of the eyes from the individual curvature of the corneas to the microscopic nuances of the eye's anatomy - designed to deliver the exact correction to allow for 6/6 or better vision.
