Herne Bay Medical Centre has been part of your community for over 50 years. Doctors and staff may have changed but we remain committed to the highest standard of medical care for all of our patients.
We strive to provide a friendly, easily accessible practice where patients can feel comfortable knowing that there will be someone to listen to and understand their health concerns.
Our doctors and nurses are all actively involved in continuing medical education and professional health organisations.
Herne Bay Medical Centre was awarded FOUNDATION STANDARDS General Practice Accreditation by the Royal College of General Practitioners in November 2021. The Medical Centre is participating in the 3 yearly Accreditation Programme.
A wide range of services are available through our practice; well health checks, minor surgery, care of the elderly, contraception advice, travel medicine, diabetes and care plus plan reviews.

Our nurses offer consultations for blood pressure, liquid nitrogen, immunisations, travel vaccines, wound care, ear syringing and cervical smears. Fees will be discussed with you at your consultation.

This includes women who have been immunised against HPV. Together, regular screening and HPV immunisation provide the best protection against cervical cancer. There are now more options for how you have cervical screening done: a simple vaginal swab test for HPV, either done yourself or with help from a healthcare professional a cervical sample taken by a healthcare professional (used to be known as a smear test). Talk with your healthcare provider to decide which option is best for you. If HPV is found, you may need to have a follow-up test or be referred directly for colposcopy. If you’ve not yet had HPV testing, you should be screened 3 years after your last test (or 1 year if immune deficient). Once you have had an HPV test, and providing HPV is not found, your next screening will be in 5 years (or 3 years if immune deficient).
