Ji-Young moved from South Korea to New Zealand in 2003, and has been living in East Auckland with their family since then.
After completing their medical training at the University of Auckland, they spent time working in the hospital for 3 years and completed their Diploma in Paediatrics, before entering the GP speciality in South Auckland.
Ji-Young has a special interest in rainbow health and mental health. They are passionate about making healthcare more accessible for the rainbow and takatāpui community and aiming for equitable outcomes for all.
When it comes to being a GP, they enjoy being able to walk alongside patients on their journey throughout their lives and getting opportunities to improve health equity in Aotearoa.
In their spare time, they enjoy painting, gardening, and watching films. Ji-Young is happy to consult in English and Korean.
