The team provides specialist Mental Health and Addiction support to whaiora/consumers and whānau/families suffering from a mental illness. The focus is community based and all services are offered in conjunction with other providers. Treatment is provided by consultant psychiatrists, therapy team, clinical psychologists, keyworkers, social workers, counsellors and support staff. Te Whare Oranga is a Specialised Service for families/whānau that are experiencing severe and enduring distress around Mental Health and Addiction issues.

Emphasis is placed on integration into the community and access to community based rehabilitation options such as specialist or cultural assessment and social work. Addiction Services also provides relicensing support.
