Dr Wendy Hedlund graduated from medical school at the University of Otago in 2011. She lived overseas for a number of years and returned to Whangārei in 2017. Since then, she developed an interest in skin cancer through her work as a general practitioner.
This special interest led to her completing an Advanced Clinical Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine & Surgery, and the Advanced Certificate of Dermoscopy through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. She also attended a practical workshop on advanced skin surgery techniques in 2023.
Wendy works closely with her skin cancer colleagues and takes a thorough approach to skin cancer detection while ensuring her patients feel comfortable and at ease.
