Dr Anna Lawrence is a New Zealand trained Urologist specialising in Functional Urology, Neuro-urology, Pelvic and Penile Reconstruction, Incontinence, and Urethroplasties. She is the current President of Continence NZ, member of the NZ Pelvic Mesh service and is actively involved in Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ education programmes. Dr Lawrence is also the current Clinical Urology Lead at Auckland Spinal and Rehabilitation Unit.
After completion of training in New Zealand, Dr Lawrence was accepted into the prestigious Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of California. During her time in California, she gained exemplary skills in Neuro-urology (Spina bifida, MS, Parkinson's disease), Neuro-modulation (InterStim and Tibial Nerve Stimulation), and Male Incontinence which is unique to New Zealand, and management of voiding dysfunction post-trauma.
Following this she was selected as the first Australasian Fellow for the Kulkarni Urethral Reconstruction Fellow. Here she learnt the most modern approach to urethral stricture management and had hands-on experience second to none. Returning home she introduced female urethroplasty, bringing modern concepts and care for female urethra stricture disease.
Currently, Dr Lawrence and her colleague complete the largest number of adult-acquired buried penis reconstruction in NZ.
Dr Lawrence remains involved in research, presenting internationally and locally.
