Dr James Blake

James is a General and Interventional Cardiologist. In addition to part-time private practice, James is a consultant cardiologist at Christchurch Hospital, and also holds a joint appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer for Christchurch School of Medicine, University of Otago.

James graduated from University of Otago in 1996. He trained in Cardiology at Green Lane and Christchurch Hospitals before completing a two-year coronary, structural heart, and peripheral vascular interventional fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan, USA.

James has special interest and expertise in the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, and risk factor management, including primary and secondary prevention. He also has additional training in the diagnosis and interventional management of peripheral arterial disease.
