Crisis/ acute (mental health)

Intake/ assessment

Crisis teams provide 7-day, 24-hour assessment and short-term treatment services for people experiencing a serious mental health crisis.

Acute services

This recovery-oriented acute service provides short-term residential intensive support and treatment for people who are experiencing deterioration or relapse in their mental health. This may include home based treatment, community respite care or inpatient facilities.

Provide telephone, SMS or internet delivered support including web based information, forums and/or support, 24/7 for a range of issues.

Peer/ advocacy/ group/ family whānau support

Support may include:

Peer/ advocacy/ group/family whānau support services

Community based

Community based services are for people who require additional support to remain actively involved with family/whānau, community living, education, employment and self-management of their own wellbeing. The person is supported to determine their own needs and to retain or regain control of their own recovery process.

Non-acute specialist mental health community services

Provision of assessment and diagnosis, treatment and advice.

Disability support

Provide mental health support services to people who have a disability.

Eating disorders

Provide a treatment programme tailored to the person's needs and may include:

  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Educational and skills groups
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Medical management
  • Medication
  • Nutrition management with a dietitian

Eating disorder services

Forensic

This service is for people with a known or suspected mental health disorder who are engaged in offending behaviours and involved with the Justice System.

Refugee/ migrant

Services offered include specialised assessment, treatment and liaison that meet the mental health needs of refugees and migrants.

Residential support

There are varying levels of supported living ranging from intensive supported living with 24 hour support, through to unstaffed supported accommodation options.

Respite

Individually tailored respite services provide short term, recovery-orientated respite options. The person is supported to reduce their stress levels and improve and maintain their wellbeing.

Supported employment

This service provides support, training and assistance to help people prepare for, obtain and maintain employment. People are helped to identify their career goals, capabilities and training needs, to develop the educational, employment and social skills needed to meet those goals, and are then supported to obtain and maintain paid employment.

 


Maternal & infant mental health

Maternal mental health clinical teams

This individually tailored crisis respite service provides short-term, recovery-orientated respite options for mothers and babies. Support is provided to mothers who are experiencing acute deterioration in their mental health during pregnancy or during the first 12 months after birth.

Maternal mental health (community support)

Support and services to women at risk of or who are experiencing a deterioration in their mental health during pregnancy or during the first 12 months after birth.

Maternal alcohol & drug addiction

Alcohol and drug addiction service tailored for pregnant women and up to 1 year post-partum.

Maternal smoking cessation

Smoking cessation service tailored for pregnant women.

 


Addictions - drug & alcohol

Helpline/ self-help

Provide telephone, SMS or internet delivered support including web based information, forums and/or support, 24/7 for a range of issues.

Peer support (AOD)

This peer support service supports people who have alcohol and/or other drug issues by inspiring hope and motivation; sharing information about resources and facilitating service user's active participation in their own recovery process. This support is provided by peers who have gained strength and understanding through their own lived experience.

Community/ social support

This service assists people to access a range of support services related to community living such as education, vocational and social, as well as alcohol and drug rehabilitation services. Emphasis is placed on integration into the community and access to community based rehabilitation options such as specialist or cultural assessment and social work.

Social detox

Social detoxification is a non-medical detox, for someone who does not require a medical intervention.

Community (medical detox)

Community managed detoxification/withdrawal is provided in a planned way and takes place in an outpatient or community setting. This is a medical detox for people where withdrawal doesn't require inpatient medical support. The service may provide mobile home managed withdrawal and also manage medication as required during the withdrawal process.

Hospital (medical detox)

For people who have a physical dependence on alcohol and other drugs (e.g. methamphetamine, benzodiazepines and opiates).

Coexisting problems -  mental health & addictions

This community-based recovery-focused service provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, therapy and support for people who experience problems relating to both their mental health and addictions (alcohol or other drugs).

Maternal alcohol & drug addiction

Alcohol and drug addiction service tailored for pregnant women and up to 1 year post-partum.

Opioid substitution treatment

Funded methadone and Suboxone programme for people with an opioid dependency.

Residential alcohol & other drug treatment

This service provides residential support and treatment for people who are experiencing significant harm as a result of their own alcohol and or other drug use. A range of options are available dependant on the treatment model followed by the service.

 


Addictions - other

Helpline/ self-help - gambling

Provide telephone, SMS or internet delivered support including web based information, forums and/or support, 24/7 for a range of issues.

Community based support - gambling

Problem gambling intervention services provide counselling services for people experiencing gambling harm (including those affected by someone else's gambling).

Venue exclusion for problem gamblers

An organisation can act on behalf of a gambler, or someone concerned about another’s gambling, to request that a gambling provider prevents that person from entering their venue.

Community based support - other

Services that provide support for other addictions (in addition to or outside of alcohol, drug, smoking and gambling addictions).


Smoking cessation

Helpline/ self-help - Smoking cessation

Provide telephone, SMS or internet delivered support including web based information, forums and/or support, 24/7 for a range of issues.

Face to face smoking cessation

Tailored programmes to meet the needs of the individual and their whānau. May be a variety of services that include one on one coaching and support, group sessions and community clinics. Free or subsidised nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) available along with information and advice.

Maternal smoking cessation

Smoking cessation service tailored for pregnant women.
