Description
A Girl Called Hope is passionate about strengthening the resilience, self-esteem and wellbeing of those in Aotearoa. For those seeking to strengthen their wellbeing, engagement with us is through Wellbeing Skills Courses, Counselling and Coaching.
Wellbeing courses both online and in-person offer skills and tools to strengthen wellbeing and are open to anyone in the community. Counselling and Coaching is for those who require additional support to remain actively involved with whānau, community living, education and employment and to retain or regain control of their own wellbeing journey.
Through our holistic avenues of engagement we provide reflection of one's own journey, learning healthy coping tools, gaining positive life skills, and opportunities to develop healthy connections with others. We do this by providing safe space to heal and strengthen based on the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of health.
Even if you have no personal connection to God, our desire is that all who engage with us would experience unconditional love and transformative change, resulting in freedom; this is our Christian environment, our kaupapa. Our practice is informed by evidence-based models and theories such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Mindfulness skills learnt in DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and the Strength Based approach.

We are a multi-disciplinary team with suitable qualifications and experience for the roles undertaken. A Wellbeing Skills Short Course is designed to build upon every participant’s existing hauora (wellbeing) resources. Our organisation’s values are communicated through our commitment to wellbeing and belief that every person is valued, purposed and, above all, has reason to live. The course is a female-only cohort and intended for those who are aware of their personal challenges and are motivated to make changes in their life.
