Description

ACADS are a team of trained professionals working to support people in the Ashburton community who are concerned about their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use.

ACADS can provide you with free and confidential information, support, advice, education and counselling.

We are a youth friendly service, offering support to young people up to the age of 19 years, who have concerns about their own, or someone else's alcohol and other drug use. We can also offer Youth Mental Health Support. We can see you at our office, school or another community agency.

People can self refer by dropping in and requesting an appointment. We're on the ground floor of the hostel building, Ashburton Hospital, Elizabeth Street, Ashburton.

Adult Alcohol & Drug Service

When you contact us you will be allocated to a trained counsellor who will phone you to arrange an appointment. They will talk to you about your general health, your drinking or drug taking history and your current concerns. Your counsellor will talk about how they can help you and look at a plan to help you make the changes you need to make. his plan may include giving you information on support groups available in our community, making other appointments for counselling, referring you to a programme or referral to a residential treatment facility. We can also give you advice on other community support organisations and agencies.
