Mental Health & Wellbeing Support specialises in providing support to families and whānau impacted by the mental health and/or addiction issues or dementia related disorders of a family member. Family and whānau are defined in the broadest sense and is not limited to immediate family members but includes friends, flatmates, work colleagues, etc.
Mental Health & Wellbeing Support understands that mental health issues do not occur in isolation - when an individual experiences mental health and/or addiction issues, this can impact significantly on the family and whānau in all areas of their lives, including mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and socially. Discovering that someone you care about has a mental health issue can cause considerable stress, with family members experiencing a range of emotions including distress, anxiety, grief, a sense of loss, confusion, and a decrease in their own mental health and wellbeing.
Our aim is to assist family and whānau to better understand their family member's mental health issue and how to best support them whilst maintaining their own mental health and wellbeing.
