Description
Emergency Consult provides rapid, 24-hour access to emergency medicine doctors in the form of a video consultation (also known as telehealth). This allows you to access care on-demand from your camera-enabled phone or device without having to travel to a hospital or clinic, whether you are at home or away from home.
As well as urgent unplanned telehealth care for the public, we also assist other healthcare providers by providing after-hours, surge demand support, and emergency medicine expertise. You may be seen by Emergency Consult if you require care from:
- Emergency Departments
- Overloaded Clinics
- Ambulance Services
- Pharmacies
- Aged Residential Care

You may begin your consultation with a brief triage with a Triage Registered Nurse before you are connected to a doctor. You will not have to wait or queue for long; your video consult will be answered within 15 minutes.
The doctor you'll video chat with is an experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist. You will describe your symptoms and the doctor will provide comprehensive treatment advice. The treatment can include prescriptions, referrals, further investigations (labs or x-rays), or medical certificates as required.
