Dr Brendan Buckley is an interventional radiologist with 20 years' experience in image-guided minimally invasive procedures. He has been a consultant at Auckland City Hospital since 2005 and has introduced many new minimally invasive procedures to New Zealand, leading in the areas of interventional oncology, embolisation, and vascular malformations.
The following are some of the procedures Dr Buckley has expertise in performing, but there are many other image-guided procedures he is able to offer patients.
- Image Guided Tissue Ablation
- Embolisation
- Prostate Artery Embolisation
- Varicocele embolisation
- Kidney and liver tumour ablation and embolisation
- Uterine artery embolisation/fibroid embolisation
- Vein Treatment
- Portacath Placement
What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional radiologists use image guidance with pin-hole access to perform a wide range of treatments, including; uterine fibroid embolisation, prostate artery embolisation, varicocele embolisation, portacath placement, radiologically inserted gastrostomy, image guided biopsy, portal vein embolisation, nephrostomy, PICC line insertion, treatment of vascular malformations, and many more procedures.
Interventional radiology procedures allow patients to have a rapid recovery, shorter hospital stays and lower complication rates.
Why Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology is an exciting and rapidly developing specialty using image guidance to perform treatment with ‘pin-hole’ access through the skin, for a growing number of conditions. Interventional radiology procedures allow patients to have a rapid recovery, shorter hospital stays and lower complication rates.
