Graduating from Otago University Medical School in 2010, then completing specialty training in Auckland, Hutt Hospital (Wellington), and Christchurch, graduating with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2022. Dr. Amanda took a six-month research hiatus to work with Professor Swee Tan at the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute on stem cell cancer research into breast cancer. She completed an aesthetic fellowship in Cape Town at The Cosmetic Institute and then a Breast and Aesthetic Fellowship in Kelowna, Canada with the University of British Columbia before returning home to New Zealand. Her appointment at Dunedin Public Hospital offered the opportunity to be a generalist plastic surgeon, and the chance to teach medical students and trainee plastic surgeons. The family-friendly lifestyle in Dunedin, with great schools and sports opportunities, also appealed to her.
Amanda specialises in skin cancer, breast surgery, facial aesthetic surgery and she has special interest in head and neck reconstructive surgery. She was drawn to Intus for its excellent clinical team, modern facilities which offer a discrete private entry, and convenient location near the public hospital.
