Maneka is a vocationally registered specialist dermatologist. 

She was raised in Auckland and obtained her medical degree at the University of Auckland, then completed her physician and specialist dermatology training while working in the Auckland, Canterbury and Waikato regions. Maneka then completed a fellowship in Advanced Medical Dermatology at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. 

After returning to New Zealand, Maneka commenced appointments at Middlemore Hospital and in private practice. She is a member of the Advanced Training Committee in Dermatology and convened the New Zealand Dermatological Society Annual Meeting in 2018. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. 

Maneka is a general dermatologist with experience in treating eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, hair and nail disorders, immunobullous disorders and connective tissue disorders, as well as the diagnosis and management of skin cancer.
