Interests

Dr Sullivan studied in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland before specialising in Medical Oncology.  He focuses on treating patients with lung cancer, brain tumours and mesothelioma.

Richard is currently the Director of the Northern Cancer Network, Deputy CMO at Auckland City Hospital, the Director of Cancer and Blood at Auckland City Hospital, the Director of Cancer Outcomes at Auckland City Hospital and a Director at Canopy Cancer Care.

Richard is the principal investigator on several New Zealand lung cancer research trials. He also sits on numerous national cancer-related committees and is currently Chair of the National Adolescent Cancer Working Group.

Richard brings a strong focus on improving experiences and outcomes for his patients and their families when they find themselves embarking on the cancer treatment journey.
