Profile

Dr Selwyn Wong did his medical degree at Otago University and Cardiology training at Greenlane Hospital in Auckland.  He then completed a research fellowship in Seattle before returning to Auckland to take up a consultant cardiology position at Middlemore Hospital in 2001.

He has extensive experience in clinical cardiology, particularly coronary artery disease, heart failure and valvular heart disease.  

His subsequent interest is in cardiac imaging.

He was the Head of Department of Cardiology for 8 years until late 2022.  He has been the Chair of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians NZ Training Committee.  Sewlyn is a Fellow of the Cardiac Societies of Australia/NZ, Europe and the USA and is a Board member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ).

He is privileged to be currently serving a two-year term as the Chair of the NZ Branch of CSANZ.
