Dr Burmeister's interests are in the treatment/management of IBD, IBS and upper GI pathology - including motility disorders, oesophageal manometry and 24-hour impedance pH studies. He also performs pill camera endoscopy as an accredited preferred provider for Southern Cross.

Gastroenterologist / Endoscopist

Dr Burmeister is a graduate of Auckland Medical School who did postgraduate specialty training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

Since March 2001 he has been employed as a specialist gastroenterologist and physician at Waitemata DHB. He also works in private at Waitemata Gastroenterology, 15 Shea Tce, Takapuna and Waitemata Endoscopy, Southern Cross North Harbour.

He is the ex chair of the Waitemata DHB Clinical & Quality Board, member of the Senior Medical Advisory Committee and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.
