If your child or teenager is suffering from mental health issues, the Maternal Infant, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (MICAMHS) may be able to support.

Fees and Charges Description
Government funding of health and disability services means that eligible people may receive free inpatient and outpatient public hospital services, subsidies on prescription items and a range of support services for people with disabilities in the community.

ICAMHS has a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers who will all help you and your child/teenager through their treatment. What to expect The ICAMHS/Voyagers team will see you and your child/teenager in one of our clinics. In Tauranga, children are seen at the Tauranga Hospital clinic and teenagers are seen at our community clinic at the Child Wellness Centre, Te Waka Aorangi, 16 Hoariri Way. In Whakatāne, children and teenagers are both seen at our community clinic at 106 Commerce Street. Our service provides: specialist assessment recovery-orientated treatment, intervention and advice support for eating disorders SORTED - providing support for alcohol and/or drug misuse for your child or teenager. During working hours, our team will provide crisis assessment, intervention and support for children and teenagers experiencing extreme mental health distress. Outside working hours, crisis support is provided for children and teenagers by the Acute Care Team.

Referral Process
Your child or teenager may be referred to ICAMHS by a health professional such as your GP or another hospital service. GP or clinical referrals, please use the referral form below.
